Until Faith

by Enobong O’wunmi
Until Faith

She bore within a doubtful heart—

the stony path, as hard as ancient rocks,

as tough as timber planks.

A chipping hammer could not tear the waxy layer,

The sharpest razor could not pierce it;

An excavator could not rip apart;

Missiles and bombs would not penetrate.

Until faith—

the mighty hammer broke into the deepest darkness,

shattering the waxy covers, crashing shadowed stones.

Her insides now are tender;

Her trust is in the unseen. By faith,

her feet are anchored, eyes on the Rock,

ever gazing at Almighty God.
