Pale gray clouds drift together,
A thick batting blanketing the brain.
Moisture collects, clots and
Fractures into fractals that compile,
Weighing down the mind and heart and soul until
The sweet release of heaven comes raining down,
Rolling and cascading—flurries landing on cheeks
That shivered in the frosty air only a moment ago;
Now numb, waiting for the storm to subside.
Howling wind, harrowed heart; heavy hurts
Slowly slide off the shoulders, slipping
Down the storm drain.
Rain, now mist, mesmerizes like static—
Seeps into wounds, sweeping, scrubbing the soul.
A deep breath, a gentle sigh,
A breeze to ease humid air;
Clouds crack, and the sun
Wraps a ray in warm embrace.
